March 29, 2023 – Gotodoctor.ca congratulates the physician, staff and management team on the expansion of its family practice service in Ontario. Enhanced Care Aurora FHO (Family Health Organization) has received approval from the Ministry of Health and will be effective on April 1, 2023. A group of seven family physicians practicing at Gotodoctor.ca’s flagship in-person clinic location at Aurora, will join this FHO and be able to support more family practice patients in the community.

This is welcome news as it is forecasted that 1 in 5 Canadians will not have a family physician by 2025. Instead of episodic care, family practice services encourage the continuity of care and align with our public healthcare system. FHO is an advanced primary care practice model that focuses on preventive care, early diagnosis, and chronic disease management. It allows physicians to provide not only in-person visits, but also Comprehensive Virtual Care based on the patient’s needs. Comprehensive Virtual Care is an insured service available to family practice patients, payable at fees equivalent to in-person fees when delivered by video or 85% by phone.¹
